Resourcing is a beautiful way to practice self-regulation and allow space for healing.
When I think about resources I think about both internal and external resources.
What are examples of internal and external resources?
Internal Resources
Internal resources are the internal parts of us that make us feel good. They are the parts of ourselves that we love and appreciate. For example: our ability to connect with others, our empathy, our creativity, our intuitiveness, our independence.
External Resources
External resources are people, places, or things that allow us to feel good. For example: our loved ones, our pets, music, walks, sunrises/sunsets, a warm embrace, a good cup of coffee.
External and internal resources can also be imagined, spiritual, and/or mythical. You can play with your resources, and allow them to be whatever you want or need them to be! Now close your eyes and notice what happens in your body when you imagine your resources. Bring your resources into the body and notice. Notice how your body responds to your internal and external resources. This is a tool that can be used in any space at any time.
I am hopeful it brings you peace and comfort.
